A Wilderness Song

Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature with this stunning waterfall painting inspired by King's Creek Falls.
In Wilderness Song, I wanted to capture the rhythmic energy of Kings Creek Falls in the Sumter National Forest. This iconic 70-foot tiered waterfall is a beloved destination in Oconee County, celebrated for its easy access and the grand scale of its rocky descent.
This piece focuses on the sense of continuous movement as the water travels across wide rock faces in a series of elegant, overlapping veils. By layering saturated tones of cool whites and soft greys against the deep, earthy textures of the mountain, I sought to translate the "song" of the wilderness—the constant, soothing hum of rushing water and the rustle of the surrounding Appalachian canopy.
It is a celebration of a place that is both powerful and welcoming, offering a moment of mountain stillness for any interior space.
